Inverse magnetism / Magnetismo inverso

2021, installation (variable dimensions)

Inverse magnetism / Magnetismo inverso explores the signals of two magnetised stones with inverse polarity that in their superposition amplify or annihilate each other.
This installation starts from the finding of a stone in the South of the World, capable of changing the orientation of the terrestrial Magnetic North of a compass.
In the mythology of the South, the South and the North were imagined as two magnetized stones that danced together in the interior of the Earth originating the abundance of nature. By the time scientific research discovered the magnetism of the Earth, those who by then had already defined themselves as geographically located on the world, in the North, immediately applied electromagnetism in their military techniques to annihilate the South.
In this installation, you will be able to explore the interference of the signals of two inverted hemispheres: their points of amplification or silence.
