Vittorio Parisi

New head of the Fine Arts degree program

On the recommendation of the selection committee, the management of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis has appointed Vittorio Parisi as the new head of the Fine Arts degree program.

Doctor of aesthetics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Vittorio Parisi is currently Director of Studies and Research at the Villa Arson in Nice, where he has contributed to the development of a doctoral program in the arts, led seminars and lecture series on contemporary art and the living, and curated several exhibitions dedicated to emerging creation. As a research associate at the ACTE Institute, his work focuses on graffiti and street art, their origins in urban interstices and their ambiguous relationship with the institutional art world.

Between 2015 and 2023 he taught aesthetics and art philosophy at the Sorbonne School of Art, Rennes 2 University and the Université Côte d'Azur. He has also undertaken several research and teaching periods in the United States (Columbia University, Smith College) and China (Fudan University). In 2012 he was cultural attaché intern at the Italian Embassy in France and in 2014 curator intern at the Dia Art Foundation in New York. In 2014 he co-founded Pigment Workroom, a participatory urban art workshop in Bari, Italy, where he continues to serve as artistic director. He was also artistic director of the 2018 and 2024 editions of the TEDxBari conference-show.

As an exhibition curator and art critic, member of AICA France, Vittorio Parisi is a regular speaker at international conferences. He is also the author of essays published in magazines, monographs and exhibition catalogs.
